Chill and Destroy Tour kicks off
Feb 02 2010

Last Saturday saw the take off to the seventh edition of the Chill and Destroy presented by Zimtstern under blue skies and warm tempeartures in the BETTERPARK EHRWALD. This 3Star event on the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour gives out cash and prizes in kind 5.000,- US $

Despite many competitions taking place at the same time, 40 riders came to the perfectly shaped Ehrwald Funpark. The set up consisted of one Kicker-Line with two masive kickers with 17m tables followed by a rail park, that gave the riders the chance to at least hit three to four obstacles in one fluent run.    More information on the set up is available on http://www.betterparks.at/betterparks/ehrwald.html.
Among the riders in the qualifications were popular names such as „Ästhetiker“ RUDI KRÖLL, last year’s CaD Tour winners PAULl DREHER (AUT) and MAX GLATZL  (AUT) as well as the German CaD Champions FRIEDL MAY and JONEL FRICKE. More riders from Switzerland and England included BASTIAN JAUSLIN, DENIZ CINEK, RAPHAEL NERZ, ROGER SCHULER, PATRICK MÜLLER and PATRICK HABEGGER, CHRISTOPHER KNIGHTLEY.  Also the kids had their time to shine: PHILIPP KUNDRATITZ (AUT, Best Run: Straight Air Nosegrab to Bs 540 Melon) and LINUS BIRKENDAHL (Best Run: Straight Air Nosegrab to Fs inverted 540) dominated the qualifications.
With three riders being really close together fort he Top 10 spot, the finals which were originally planned for 10 riders, saw the best 13 riders proceeding as well as the best three kids of that day.
Best Rookie of the day became PHILIPP KUNDRATIZ who earned himself a cheque of 500 US $.
In the finals the best out of two runs counted. Three Austrians made the podium of the slopestyle contest: PATRICK WÖRLE (3. place) with a Fs 720 Indy to extremely slowly rotated Bs Rodeo 540-combination. Austrian old time favorit RUDI KRÖLL whoed high level riding skills and went home with 500 US $.  His Best Run consisted of a Cab 900 Indy to Fs 720. Happy winner of the event and 1000$USD richer was JANOSZ PIOTR (POL). He took the title with solid rail tricks and technical kicker snowbaording (Best Run: Sw Bs 720 Indy to Cab 720 Indy).
After a sucessful kick off the Tour will hopefully continue in the same manner over the next 12 weeks.
