Livigno, Italy – 22nd February 2010: The Burn River Jump has been part of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour since 2007 and has with its creative set up and top level riding developed in its fourth year into a 5Star event. The international riders will flood the Mottolino Snowpark in Livigno, Italy from the 24th to the 26th of February 2010, and will bring on a tight wrestle for the two event format titles, each featuring 850 TTR ranking points available to the winners as well as a total of $50,000 USD prize purse.
Attracting International Talent In The Search For TTR Points
With two 5Star results on the menu from the Brux Slopestyle Contest and the Burn River Jump (Straight Jump), TTR riders will gather in force for their chance to collect valuable TTR ranking points and move up in the rankings. Top Swiss rider Christian Haller, who has just competed at the Vancouver Olympics, has confirmed his attendance and is motivated to improve on his fifth position on the world ranking list. He has a good chance to move into World No. 3 and with some great results this winter, such as a 7th place in the 6Star Burton European Open slopestyle format, he is one of the toughest contenders.
Only a few other riders are in contention for the same spot in the Swatch TTR World Rankings. One is Gjermund Braaten, the rookie from Norway, who has since his title as the World Rookie Champion in 2007/2008 showed his strength as a slopestyle rider by taking 3rd place at the 6Star Burton European Open and currently sits in World No 11. Another one hungry for the glory is current World No. 9, Janne Korpi (FIN), who won the O’Neill Evolution slopestyle in 2009 and has already bagged some good results this season including a 7th place at the 5Star Burton Canadian Open slopestyle.
Swatch TTR Top 10 Battle Heating Up
There are several riders who are battling it out for a Top 10 spot on the Swatch TTR World Ranking List including many up and coming rookies. Canadian Eric Willett, who placed 6th at the O’Neill Evolution slopestyle and is currently sitting in World No 14, will have to defeat the likes of World No. 15 Roope Tonteri (FIN) who was crowned World Rookie Champion in 2008/2009 and took 6th at the Canadian Open slopestyle, as well as Mikkel Bang (NOR) another strong slopestyle rider who placed 2nd at the BEO slopestyle this January. Many other top riders such as Janne Lipsanen (FIN), Ville Uotila (FIN), Mark McMorris (CAN), Kevin Backström (SWE) and Ethan Morgan (GER) will put on their best show to get a result that will lift them up in the TTR ranking.
