2022 Livigno World Rookie Fest

The Black Yeti returns to the always-perfect Mottolino Snowpark in Livigno doubling up in style: not just the snowboard contest, in fact, the World Rookie Fest 2022 will also host freeskiers for the first time.

Since 17 years World Rookie Fest has been synonymous with aggregation, fun, international competition and friendship, and represents one of the most prestigious youth snowboard events on the planet. For this reason, starting from the 2022 edition, the Black Yeti wanted to extend the invitation to this iconic event, also to the freeskiers community.

As an almost twenty-year tradition dictates, this event will be accompanied by countless collateral activities that will make the stay in Livigno an unforgettable experience not only for the athletes, but also for the companions and the public. In fact, the competition days will be accompanied by a rich lifestyle program to guarantee all participants 7 unforgettable days of stay in Livigno.

Avalanche clinics and yoga sessions will be our strong points for the full week, in addition, artistic workshops, night jams, video premieres, apéritifs and parties will complete the busy competitive program that will allow you to discover the Champions of tomorrow.

For snowboarders, the week will start with the Nitro Rail Night Session with € 1,000 in prize money, while local hero Ian Rocca will offer a special welcome to freeskiers.

Finally, Mottolino will make available to the competing athletes several training sessions on the Big Air Bag in order to fill the program on the slopes even on days without competitions, and to have the opportunity to train together with many qualified athletes for the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics.

All snowboards and freeskiers who will get on the podium of the respective rookie, grom, male and female categories, will be qualified for the World Rookie Finals 2022 which will take place in Kitzsteinhorn Zell am See-Kaprun for snowboarding, and in Madonna di Campiglio for the Freeski.

In addition, Surf Camps in Spain are offered by our partner and many prizes from sponsors Nitro, Volkl, Marker, TSG, Jail Jam, and others to be defined. Finally, a special prize will be reserved for the Best Snowboard Team of the event: they will be invited to participate in the world finals of the new “Red Bull Hammers with Homies” team contest.

Who will not have the pleasure of spending a week with us in Livigno, will be able to watch snowboard and freeski finals live thanks to our historic media partner

In time ASF has developed a strong influence on sports development in the country. Snowboarding is one of the fastest-growing and most famous sports among Afghans.

World Snowboard Federation: Coronavirus statement

It’s times like these that make us realise what truly matters. The governments around the world have taken actions to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). These actions have direct influence on all of you and all of us in the world of snowboarding. Events were cancelled, resorts, training facilities, factories and shops were closed down and these are just few examples. The World Snowboard Federation believes that any action taken against the spread of the virus is reasonable and we fully support it. The snowboarding community needs to understand that the sooner we all manage to stop the virus from spreading, the sooner we can try to build our way back to normal life, where snowboarding plays an important role.

At this point, we would like to encourage all of you not to go outside and play, as we usually do. On the contrary, please stay inside and try to get isolated from others who might be more vulnerable. Watch snowboarding videos, read books, take care of your snowboard base, make a trick list for the next season, think of the places you would like to go snowboarding – but do it inside. There will be time to go out there again. You just have to wait, which is in the end not so bad.

The WSF team does just that. We’re in our homes, staying active by doing our jobs. We would like to express our respect and gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, firemen, policemen and others working on our behalf against the pandemic. We wish you all to stay healthy and safe in these difficult times. We believe that we will soon defeat the virus and will be able to get back to our normal life & snowboarding.

WSF President Satu Järvelä stated:
“This have been a tough couple of weeks as Coronavirus has taken fast turns around the world. We at WSF have taken action to cancel all our events this spring. It is our top priority to keep our snowboard community safe. We all need to adapt our lives and work for at least the next coming months. As our community is strong, we can do this together with the support of each other and working from home offices. Support your local businesses and let’s take care of each other!”

Your WSF.

– All remaining events on the WSF Banked Slalom Tour 2019/20 were cancelled.
– The WSF General Assembly 2020 that was supposed to take place in May in Innsbruck, Austria was postponed to September/October 2020 – more information will follow.
