La Freestyla , Alta Badia (ITA)

A perfect weather with a bright sunshine attracted more than 26 snowboarders to the Snowpark Alta Badia for the season ending.
The riders first rocked the three kickers combo before they showed their creative lines on the different obstacles in the jib park. A lot of spectators relaxed along the contest line in deckchairs and with drinks and watched the nice freestyle spring session.

Bright sunshine, warm temperatures and a nicely groomed Snowpark welcomed the riders in Alta Badia on Saturday in the morning. For the first time a lot of park designers and head shapers of the QParks family all over Europe showed up to celebrate the season’s end with the second last QParks Tourstop. Despite the summerlike temperatures with up to 25 degrees during the days before the contest, park designer Rene “Renilla” Margreiter and his shape crew prepared the contest setup perfectly. The three kickers combo even got built one day before the contest and got a fine tuning before the riders could show their first tricks in the training session.

After a short explanation of the organizators ( QParks and SeaSide Crew ) the tune was “La Freestyla – it’s oooon”! Snowboarders first started on the kicker line and could show their best tricks in two runs. Afterwards the boys and girls went on to the jib line.
In the men category Jonel Fricke (GER) could finally pop bottles after two 3rd places in Fiss-Laids and Kitzbühel and was so glad about his 1st place: “The session in Alta Badia at the La Freestyla was by far the coziest contest I participated this season! For having temperatures of more than 20 degrees the Snowpark was in perfect shape and it was a lot of fun shredding J yeaaah!!! I really liked the jib line where I could do all my tricks as planned. All in all it was an awesome day that I sweetened with my 1st place.”. He won before the Austrians Marvin Salmina and Roli Scharmer who placed 2nd and 3rd and beyond that he even took the lead of the tour in his category! And that was not enough, because Jonel showed the best trick as well and got 100 Euros and a one year subscription for the Playboard Mag in addition! In the women category the BWA crew rider Christine “Isy” Szumovski (AUT) won before the tour leader Daniela Kaindl (AUT) and also popped bottles at the victory ceremony! Daniela got 2nd before Klara Dinold (AUT). “Alta Badia is definitely worth a visit with its nice kickers and lots of creative jib obstacles. The contest was a lot of fun, perfectly shaped park, four motivated girls at the start and a crazy party in bella Italia! I’m really glad about my victory because it means for me that I can take part at the finals on the Dachstein” so Isy.

After the prizegiving ceremony on the terrace of the hut “Rifugio Ciampai” the riders, shapers and spectators sat together with drinks, good Italian wine as well as at real Italo-beats and enjoyed the sun of South Tyrol. Later in the evening everybody met again at the Taverna Posta Zirm for the after party with DJ Stylestep where the atmosphere reached its maximum and perfectly topped off a successful freestyle day!
