Nescafè Open Champs in Leysin 2010: the oldest european snowboard event

For the CHAMPS and those who have followed the event for 19 years, the 2010 winter can’t arrive soon enough. The oldest competition in Europe will return to its resort of origin at LEYSIN. That is not the only good news, the long time partner of the CHAMPS will return and re-baptize the event “NESCAFÉ CHAMPS”.

Finding itself at the end of the summer without a home the CHAMPS needed to find solutions for the future and a quest was launched to at all costs save the competition. This snowboarding competition has not only brought a top-level winter sports event to the Swiss French Region, but was equally a source of inspiration for the numerous national and international participants. It quickly became obvious that only one resort could host the CHAMPS and of course that meant Leysin ! The resort where the competition was conceived and evolved over 15 mythic years was motivated to continue hand in hand with the CHAMPS. The 3 years spent in Valais were for sure positive on the competition side and also in the media, but the public never really followed. The passionate and nostalgic nature of the return to Leysin already promises that the CHAMPS 2010 will be an event not to miss and a perfect prelude to a magnificent 20th birthday edition in 2011.

NESCAFÉ, partner of the CHAMPS from 1994 to 2006, equally makes its return to Leysin as the prestigious Title Sponsor. Other loyal partners such as SWATCH, who also is the Title Sponsor of the TTR World Snowboard Tour, will of course join the party as well. The NESCAFÉ CHAMPS LEYSIN is shaping up to be a veritable “REVIVAL”.

On the program is a Swatch TTR 4Star Halfpipe Competition with 20’000 U
