WSF and TTR General Assembly Report

WSF GA 2015 just ended here in Vienna and 2 busy days quickly passed away for the people who attended its 14th edition: representatives of 21 nations coming from all around the world came together to discuss the current state and the future of snowboarding.

DAY 1
Marco Sampaoli presented the highlights of the 2014/15 season including the 10th anniversary of the World Rookie Tour and the huge success of the WSF Banked Slalom Tour, made of 21 events held in 8 nations.

The panel discussions and workshops included also presentations by WSF Judges coordinator Iztok Sumatic and IJC founding member Tom Wagener and the South America Tour: NSA’S remain in their highly important role as networking resource, education platform, athlete sponsorship and more.

DAY 2
WSF GA day 2 kicked off with a joint session with TTR Pro Snowboarding: Anna-Maria Strittmatter and Boris Kilvinger presented their study on Freestyle Snowboarding, followed by Reto Lamm and Dirk Lösch discussion about the current state of TTR: promises and positive ideas are marking a new chapter for the World Snowboard Tour and a new approach is working towards creating more “quality glue” that holds snowboarding together.

Meinhard Trojer explained the qualification criteria for the Yabuli Championships in 2016 and, at the end of the day, Henning Andersen and Hilde Rasch took the stage to talk about the upcoming XGames in Oslo.

A Non-Profit organization, TTR Pro Snowboarding owns the World Snowboard Tour, the World Championships of Snowboarding in partnership with the WSF, and the global ranking system – the World Snowboarding Points Lists (WSPLs). Through TTR’s four-tiered tour structure, it encourages, develops and supports rider progression from rookies to world-class athletes, where the Elite level, WST Pro Series events are the ultimate pinnacle of snowboarding.

WSF General Assembly 2015 Countdown

In less than 15 days the world of snowboarding will meet in Vienna to discuss about the future of the sport. WSF encourage the NSA delegates responsible for events and grass root development to join the following two interactive sessions:

Open Workshop on Event, Judging and Ranking (Friday, 29. May. 2:30pm) 

The workshop hosted by the WSF Event and WSF Judge Committtee serves as an open discussion platform for all competition format and judging related topics. All interested parties are invited to attend or, if this is not possible, submit their questions and suggestions beforehand. The questions will be discussed in an open forum. Wherever possible, immediate solutions will be found and answers will be given. All other areas that are identified will be prepared as part of the committees and updates will follow in fall 2015.

Panel on grass root development (Friday, 29. May. 4:30pm)

In the panel, the work on grass root development in the different countries will be addressed extensively. By releasing a document on how to develop of a strong snowboard community, the WSF Education Committee will make the experience gained by “model of best practices” available to all WSF members. The panel aims at exchanging experience and expertise in order to motivate all NSAs be active in this field.

WSF GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2015

The World Snowboard Federation (WSF) announces that the General Assembly will be held in Vienna, Austria from the 29th to the 31st of May, 2015.

After the biggest GA ever of last year, WSF is pleased to inform you that WSF General Assembly 2015 will take place in Vienna, Austria (29th- 31st of May, 2015).

Together with our long-standing partner TTR Pro Snowboarding, the WSF/TTR GAs are going to have a very interactive program involving NSAs, event organizers, riders and stakeholders from all areas of international snowboarding… and you can’t miss it!!!

The new partner Freeride World Tour will join the WSF GA too and there is going to be a dope session about the world of freeriding.
