Girls Shred Sessions 2018 – Info & Schedule

The Girls Shred Sessions are back again! Also in the winter 2018, female riders will have a shredalicious time – QParks takes care of that with a number of events. Together with experienced coaches they’ve set themselves the goal to gather as many girls as possible in the snowpark, where they can work on their shred skills. During 7 sessions in 7 snowparks the girls will receive tips and tricks about shredding by professional snowboard and freeski coaches.

Girls Own The Park

That’s the motto under which female snowboarders and freeskiers from all around the Alpine region have come together for joint shred sessions for 6 years now. For a whole day it is all about refining tricks or just gaining a first insight into the freestyle scene. Drop by for a session in the following parks:

7 Sessions in 7 Parks

The Snowpark Obergurgl is fueled with extra girls power, because at the Diamond of the Alps even the park is shaped by a female-only crew. In the Superpark Planai you are welcomed by the Blue Tomato team riders themselves and especially more advanced riders shouldn’t miss out on the Girls Shred Session in the Penken Park Mayrhofen. The badenova Snowpark Feldberg provides a sweet setup for everyone who wants to work on their jib skills. For all of you who like to soak up Italian sun, the Girls Shred Sessions stop in the Snowpark Alta Badia for the very first time. And also the Golden Roofpark Axamer Lizum invites all chicks to a girls-only session this winter which is the closest girlsonly ride from Innsbruck! At the final event, the Blue Tomato Girls Day at the Blue Tomato Kings Park Höchkönig, you will meet the coaches from Blue Tomato once again.

What to expect

At the Girls Shred Session you spend a whole day together with pro coaches in the snowpark. In a relaxed atmosphere you can work on your shred skills with the help of the coaches while getting to know other motivated shred girls:“It was definitely cool! In Julia, who I got to know here, I also found a new friend with whom I can shred the park from now on.”, says rider Theresa. On top you get lunch and goodies provided by Blue Tomato, Nikita, Golden Ride, Planet Sports, WeAre and QParks for free.

PRSNT Performance Hosts Adventure + Digital Detox Retreat in Colorado

April 22-24th, 2016 – Loveland Ski Area, Colorado— PRSNT PERFORMANCE, founded by professional snowboarders Kjersti Buaas and Chanelle Sladics launched their first camp in the US with 14 women off ages ranging from 14 to 41. The camp encompassed nutrition with a private chef, yoga, meditation and goal setting, with on-hill adventures complemented by an avalanche awareness workshop by Loveland’s Ski Patrol. The weekend was a massive opportunity for the campers to put their phones away and totally immerse themselves in a weekend filled with yin and yang activities.

The three-day camp, centered around adventure, yoga, nutrition and meditation, was complemented with workshops by fellow snow sports athletes and health specialists. Chanelle and Kjersti were accompanied by pro rider turned holistic chef Rachel Turiel, snowboard legend and health facilitator Tara Dakides, as well as Olympic skier with a specialty in essential oils Keri Herman. The long weekend attracted women of all ages from all around Colorado, with campers ranging from 14 to 41 years old.

“This weekend was a game-changer for these radical Colorado babes and us as well. We laughed, we cried, we danced, we hugged, we learned, we grew, we did downward dogs and om’s. We learned how to use essential oils for daily healing opportunities, we tested our antioxidant levels thru our skin cells, we went beacon hunting with Loveland Ski Patrol, splitboarding, rallied down the mountain as a squad to dance tunes, practiced breathing together, ate lots of yummy organic vegan food, laughed some more, wrote in out journals, set goals and intentions, and most of all- we made friends that will last a lifetime. We love to see our camps organically creating these micro communities for women seeking health and time outdoors,” says Chanelle Sladics, Co-Founder of PRSNT.

prsnt_2

Each day was packed with snowboarding, yoga, gratitude practices, and health workshops. PRSNT Performance focuses intention into the mind, body, spirit and cultivating community through the PRSNT state of mind.

I am filled with GRATITUDE and AWE for the opportunity to spend time with all of these shining ladies. I have been seeking community and can’t believe it was in my backyard.  I don’t find myself in a safe space often enough to face internal thoughts/fears as well as being so inspired- physically, nutritionally, mentally, and emotionally. It seems like it’s all really sinking in for me now that I’m back in my own space. I am so GRATEFUL for the time we shared and look forward to our future gatherings on and off the hill!” says #PRSNTloveland camper Jbird.

This weekend really blew my mind and expectations out of the water. It’s a dream to be able to create these settings, where we not only see the ladies connect right there and then, but we see them take immediate initiative to stay in touch with each other after the camp. Through our camps we have become aware that ladies from all around the world are seeking likeminded ladies to go snowboarding, skinning and adventures with or just get inspired by. After each camp I feel so inspired and passionate,” says co-founder of PRSNT and four time Olympian Kjersti Buaas.

The ladies trickled into the cabin Friday afternoon where they were greeted by goodies from numerous sponsors including goggles from Zeal Optics, yoga mats from LuluLemon, energy and hydration drinks from Purps, Guayaki and CocoRidge, and snacks from Navitas Naturals superfoods. Music continued to drive the vibe at the PRSNT lodge courtesy of Kicker audio and the ladies rocked spiritual gangster t’s while graciously sipping there Rowdy Mermaid Kombucha or Amazing Grass greens from their Klean Kanteens and Simply Straws. Toxic-free sunscreen provided by All Good Brand and lunch time was facilitated with reusables utensils from ToGoWare + ChicoBags.

Our partners play a HUGE role in the experience we created for the campers. Working with companies that resonate with our beliefs helps amplify our message and allows us feeds superfoods to these campers for a modest price.  We are so happy to work as a team to make a  direct impact on the health of our planet and the health of us humans,” says Chanelle.

I’m drawn to work with conscious brands that courageously take the steps needed to make a positive difference in this world. I want to use my platform as a professional athlete, to create attention around these companies and their amazing, healthy, environmental friendly products. These choices are a lifestyle.  We need to support the people and brands that bring authenticity and truth to the world,” says Kjersti.

IMG_2747

PRSNT Performance camp at Loveland was less about the athletic performance and more so about success in all arenas of life. Chef Rachel Turiel integrated her background in holistic cooking and snowboarding to prepare healthy snacks and meals throughout the weekend, accompanied by explanations of each ingredient and their benefits for digestion, energy, and overall health. General health and mindfulness of what’s being put into the body and how that affects other parts of life was a main point of discussion over the weekend. Tara Dakides led a workshop on antioxidant health, and pro skier Keri Herman came out to educate the group on essential oil healing. Yoga, meditation, and stretching were integral in preparing for and winding down from long days on-hill. From avalanche courses and beacon testing to split boarding and snowshoeing, the activities at Loveland challenged the campers’ endurance, intuition, and mental toughness. By facilitating an environment full of mindfulness and the “live in the present” mentality, PRSNT Performance cultivated mind, body, and community in three short days.

We’re looking towards continuing to expand PRSNT internationally and extending it to even longer retreats. Even after these three days in Colorado, none of the campers wanted to leave! We were stoked we didn’t want to either,” says Chanelle.

With two huge successes under their belts, the two are looking towards a week-long camp in late October in the tropics focused on community, nutrition, mindfulness and living in the PRSNT.

PRSNT Performance Retreat Colorado

PRSNT PERFORMANCE, founded by professional snowboarders Kjersti Buaas and Chanelle Sladics announces the launch of their first camp in the US. This camp will encompass nutrition, yoga, and meditation with on-hill adventures complemented by an avalanche awareness workshop. This weekend will be a massive opportunity to embrace a digital disconnect and reconnect without the noise of technology.

FullSizeRender-3

We are excited to add some new elements to the experience and extend it to a full weekend offering. As more enthusiasts continue to be inspired to adventure into the mountains, we feel it is really important to learn about avalanche awareness and we want to empower our campers with this knowledge, says Chanelle Sladics, Co-Founder of PRSNT.  I also look forward to opportunities to put my technology away as a group, rest my eyes from the screens and my mind from the noise to reconnect.

The weekend will have special guests from snowboard legend Tara Dakides testing campers antioxidant levels and teaching them about having a strong defense system. “As we all know, great health takes time, effort and knowledge and not everyone has that dedication. Chanelle and Kjersti have very busy lives, but they dedicate every lifestyle choice to living and eating well and educating others on how to get started the right way,” says Tara. Followed by Olympian skier Keri Herman’s essential oils workshop.  The weekend will be completed by nutritious vegan masterpieces, prepared by Rachel Turiel, an ex-professional snowboarder and now a holistic private chef.

FullSizeRender-1

Your body is always present, it’s the mind who wanders and gets lost. We want to get women of all ages and levels together to do yoga, snowboard, ski, meditate, learn about health and nutrition, while practicing awareness of the #PRSNT moment. Being professional athletes has thought us that it is in this state that we perform our best. We want to help facilitate an environment that will stimulate the participants to get to this special place, because we know how powerful it is! We believe that whether it is on the mountain, at work or in anything you are passionate about, this state of mind is the key to performing to your fullest potential. For us the goal is for the campers to go home with tools that they didn’t have prior to the camp and to know how to utilize these in their daily life,” says four time Olympian and co-founder of camp, Kjersti Buaas.

Chanelle Sladics and Kjersti Buaas PRSNT PERFORMANCE Retreat at Loveland in Colorado (USA) kicks off today!

We wish the ladies a great weekend ahead! Stay tuned for a full report.

Snowboard Germany’s Girls Shred Session with Silli at Vans Penken Park x WSF Pro Women

The Girls Shred Session hit the Vans Penken Park with a blast – this is what happened: Nearly 60 (!) #shredqueens from Austria, Germany, England, Spain and even Australia conquered the park, chased away the fog to make place for the sun and nailed their sickest moves. Due to the massive amount of girl power it’s quite obvious why pro riders such as Silvia Mittermüller, Pilar De La Cruz and Laura Wallner took over the coaching duties and even Miss Anna Gasser paid the Girls Shred Session a visit…

573534_Girls-Shred-Session-im-Vans-Penken-Park-by-Roland-Haschka

Saturday the 26th of March, countless female snowboarders and freeskiers made their way to the Zillertal area at dawn in order to kick off the Girls Shred Session 2015/16 on time at 10 am. At first the park was still covered in a couple of fog patches, but after the highly motivated girls had taken a couple of warm-up runs with the WSF Pro Women Ambassador Silvia Mittermüller, the obstacles of the Vans Penken Park were sparkling in the sunlight. Time to start the session!

From seven-year-old #shredqueens up to 30+ girls, who were taking their first runs, everyone is welcome at the Girls Shred Session! Thanks to the freeski and snowboard coaches, each of the participants was able to state her personal goal of the day, which some of the girls already managed to achieve during the morning session. When noon arrived with bright sunshine it was time to chill and to recharge the batteries at the Grillhof Alm lodge. The break didn’t last too long, though, because soon the girls were ready for some more shred action and couldn’t wait to get on the park lift again to start the next gunfire – at that time Anna Gasser had already mixed in with the crowd!

At the end of the day everyone was totally stoked and satisfied – the participants even received various cool prizes such as Vans snowboard boots and jackets, QParks t-shirts and gym bags by the Mayrhofen Mountain Railways! After an amazing day of incredible shred action it was time to say goodbye in the late afternoon – but the girls will definitely be back for some more brilliant spring sessions at the Vans Penken Park.

Check out the Snowboard and the Freeski Edit of the Girls Shred Session! You can find current information on the Vans Penken Park till the season finale and onwards on the Facebook Fanpage and the best pics on Instagram on a daily basis! Visit mayrhofner-bergbahnen.com for updates on the current spring session setup and don’t forget to download the brand-new app for Android Smartphones and iPhones! Last but not least – the #shredqueens can be found on Instagram and Facebook as well. Ride on grrrls!

WSF Pro Women meets Silvia Mittermüller

Talking about snowbording with the pro rider & WSF Pro Women ambassador Silvia Mittermüller!

BIO
NAME Silvia Mittermueller
NICK NAME Silli
SPONSORS Vans, Planet Sports, Breckenridge Resort, Ride, Oakley, Elm
AGE old enough to teach you a lot
HOME MOUNTAIN Breckenridge, CO
STANCE Goofy, 54cm
RIDING SINCE 1997
SOCIAL NETWORKS Instagram/ Twitter silviamittermul Facebook Silvia Mittermuller

WHEN DID YOU FIRST START TO SNOWBOARD?
1997

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST SNOWBOARD? WHAT WAS IT?
I dont know what it was, but it said Six`em on the base. It was brown and kinda ugly and too wide and long for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRICK?
Anything that works out effortless despite being difficult to learn.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO SNOWBOARDING WHERE YOU HAVE NOT BEEN YET?
Wow very good question! I´d like to go to Vars in France because I love french language and only heard good rumours about their park. I also love Japan, but I´ve been there before.

WHAT SHOULD EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT SNOWBOARDING?
That the price to pay at the beginning is 2-3 days of hard crashes and bruises – after that its only good! And that you´re never too old to learn to ride park or do little tricks – my parents are over 60 and ride small park features!

WHAT CAN GIRLS AND WOMEN DO TO GET STARTED WITH SNOWBOARDING?
1) get a fitting setup (rental is ok too, just make sure to pick a soft board that isnt wider than your feet are long and no longer than 150cm!)
2) Dress too warm so being cold is never a problem
3) take it slow and control your fear (you always have to risk a little to win a little)
4) enjoy how powerful it makes you feel to succeed at something you didnt think you could do
5) being in decent shape is always good to start with, but maybe snowboarding can also give you a reason to finally want to get into better shape.

PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO LIVE AND SHRED, YOUR SECOND HOME IN COLORADO…WHAT MAKES LIVING THERE SO UNIQUE?
I have fallen in love with Breckenridge since my very first time here over 10 years ago – they had the best park ,the widest and most perfect jump take offs and the biggest choice of rails I had ever seen in my life. It is still like that, thats why most professional slopestyle snowboarders and skiers are coming to Colorado for at least a month per season by now. You can just progress so fast here and live a very happy life in this tiny mountain town at over 3000m of altitude!
