TTR ANNOUNCES KEY UPDATES FOR 2010/11 NORTHERN HEMISPHERE SEASON

The Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour keeps evolving and the 2010/11 Northern Hemisphere season has some exciting changes going on with many new events, the introduction of a new judging system and will feature the Burton US Open as the final 6Star event for both men and women. Due to rider feedback, the TTR is proud to crown both the male and female TTR Tour Champions at the legendary 6Star Burton US Open in Vermont, USA. The male and female rider with the best average of seven results after the 6Star US Open will be declared the 2010/2011 Swatch TTR World Tour Champions.

6Star Calendar Kicks off in China and Ends in Vermont
The Air & Style recently announced a partnership with Shaun White and Oakley who will be presenting the new 6Star Air & Style Beijing scheduled to take place this weekend on December 4, 2010. In January, the tour moves on to Switzerland for the 6Star O’Neill Evolution and the Burton European Open, which feature both slopesyle and halfpipe for men and women. The tour then splits with the 5Star Burton Canadian Open scheduled for the first week of February, which overlaps with the 6Star Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck, Austria, on February 5th. The following week male and female riders will head back to Switzerland for the 5Star Nescafe Champs Leysin to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event.

More stadium rocking action is on the menu on the12th of February, when the Nike 6.0 Air & Style Munich goes off in true 6Star style. The season won’t loose any steam with another 6Star event around the corner and The Oakley Arctic Challenge will take place shortly after in Norway. In Europe one more 5Star event, the Burn River Jump, will make fans scream in Italy at the end of February. The tour will wrap up with the men’s and women’s Swatch TTR Tour Champions crowned at the 6Star Burton US Open, running from March 7th to 13th. See below for a compete list of 6Star and 5Star events.

New 6Star Results Available and a Fresh Final 6Star Event for Women
Two major events, The Oakley Arctic Challenge and the O’Neill Evolution, will both be opening 6Star slopestyle formats for women this season. With the loss of the Roxy Chicken Jam events from the tour, this is a great opportunity for the women to conquer new terrain and bank TTR results. The women are also looking forward to having the female TTR Champion crowned alongside the men’s ceremony at the Burton US Open. One Life crew member, Kjersti Buaas (NOR), and a regular at TTR events says, “It makes more sense to award the men’s and women’s TTR title at the same event and I think it is a better solution, because we get to celebrate with the boys. I also think the US Open is a great event.”
6Star Halfpipe and Slopestyle Events Will All Feature SLS Judging
The Snowboarding Live Scoring System, or SLS, is a new judging system developed over three years and launched successfully during the 6Star TTR event, The Oakley Arctic Challenge slopestyle, held in Oslo, March 2010. The 2010 5Star Burton New Zealand Open also adopted the SLS system, and was the first event to bring SLS into the halfpipe. The new system combines a sharp focus on individual tricks with overall impression using trick judges and flow judges. The SLS system creates an easy to follow and clear to compare scoring path, which shows how the run’s result were achieved. All 6Star events that feature halfpipe and slopestyle will utilize the new SLS system and viewers will be able to follow the system via live webcast.
