USASA Nationals 2008 at Copper Mtn. Colorado

The USASA Nationals went down this past weekend in Colorado with a multitude of male and female snowboarders from all over the United States competing in Alpine, Boardercross, Slopestyle and Halfpipe for the largest snowboard event in the world.

The Slopestyle course consisted of some highly original features including a variety of hefty kickers, rails and boxes. Ryan Anderson claimed the men’s Slopestyle title followed by Rick Millett in second and Joe Mango in third. For the women, Lynn Neil of Utah stood highest on the podium, as Mikaela Casey of Minnetrista, MN took second and Molly Wilson of Aspen, Colorado rounded out the women’s top three.

The Halfpipe offered a high quality session for riders ready to step up to the challenge in the Midwest Rockies. As one of the few non-American riders in the event, New Zealand rider Ben Stewart made his presence known in the pipe. Ben was killing it all day, pushing past the competition to take the USASA Halfpipe Title. Following Stewart were US riders Broc Waring and Brett Esser who placed second and third respectively. Kaitlyn Farrington however, dominated the women’s pipe, taking home first place with Kelly Maren finishing second and Elizabeth Beerman claiming third.
