Volvo X Over Ride and the “Ruler of the Hill”

The first day of the Volvo X OVER RIDE weekend was clearly dominated by the colours black, red and gold. The gold medal in HP went to the german rider Patrick Cinca followed by Wolle Beer from Austria (2nd place) and Aleksi Partanen from Finland (3rd place).

Petr Horák from the Czech Republic won the SS contest by pulling tricks such as a Double Cork out of the bag, followed by Aleksi Partanen (FIN) and Max Pölzl (AUT).

Girl power could also be admired at the Slopestyle Contest: Amber Schücker (AUS) made first place in the womens’ ranking.

Ruler of the Hill
Throughout the entire Volvo X OVER RIDE weekend, there was one man who was constantly able to convince with performances of the highest caliber. With his tricks, he did not only fly “higher, further and more stylish”, but also landed directly on the golden spot on the pedestal. As the overall winner in both competitions (Slopestyle and Halfpipe), Florian Geyer (GER) was named “Ruler of the Hill” by the jury.

First Row Seating at Volvo ICE CAMP
The weather gods were particularly friendly this weekend. Despite poor forecasts, the sun was shining on the riders at Volvo X OVER RIDE for most of the time. This brought joy not only to the athletes but also the spectators. On the sun deck outside the Volvo ICE CAMP (www.volvo-ice-camp.at), directly behind the snow park of Kitzsteinhorn Mountain, guests found premium views and comfortable lounge chairs as well as the right atmosphere. DJ Suspect and DJ Udjevic fired up the crowd with their cool sounds. Those who were still feeling chilly were able to warm up by climbing the Ice Tower right next to the igloos of Volvo ICE CAMP or test the latest ski and snowboard models at the Expo area for free.

Party like Kings at Kaprun Castle
During the legendary after-contest party at medieval Kaprun Castle, the celebrations continued for the winners and hundreds of partygoers. After the numerous non-cash prizes and cheques were distributed in the afternoon, a champagne shower followed for the champions and a royal celebration for the party people. Four DJs (DJ Vale, DJ Shantisan, DJ Suspect and DJ Urdjevic) were working the turntables, and two floors were rocked by the dance moves of the party crowd. True to the motto: “Party like Kings!”
