WSF Banked Slalom Tour: Snowboarders overrun Hochkeil for 10th Banked Slalom Edition.

At the Hochkeil Bio Banked Slalom (Jan. 25th) in Mühlbach am Hochkönig (Austria), over 160 snowboarders from 13 nations enjoyed the smooth steep turn race in glorious sunshine. Many young snowboarders took the opportunity to ride with their peers and learn from the legends. Another highlight on the Hochkeil after the start of the season in September!

On Saturday, the Banked Slalom in the Hochkeil natural snow area in Mühlbach am Hochkönig celebrated its 10th anniversary. The course at the Arthurhaus lift was perfectly prepared thanks to Max Deutinger and his colleagues from WSV Updawgs and the Hochkeil team. This attracted more than 160 snowboarders of all ages to the foot of the Hochkönig to celebrate the oldest discipline in snowboarding, the banked slalom. Old-school boards from the snowboard museum were presented along the course. Riders who travelled by public transport or car-pooled were given a discount on the entry fee for the race on the natural snow course.

Due to the large number of participants, the training time was extended. Thanks to the modern chip timing system, there was enough time for the participants to tackle their three runs whenever they felt like it. This session format was particularly relaxed for the more than 40 kids, so despite the adrenaline of racing against the clock, there was no major competition stress. The ‘Bindingless’ classification, i.e. the boarders who surfed without bindings on their boards, was more about completing the course without crashing.

In bright sunshine, everyone from grandparents to toddlers showed off their skills on the board. The best of the three timed runs was ranked. Once again this year, the main prizes in the form of snowboards from our supporters Goodboards, Nidecker, Yunika, Nitro and Amplid went to the average times. This meant that every rider could really hope to win a prize, and all the children were once again able to take home a little something.
There were also awards for the fastest riders, with the main prize being a design trophy in the form of the Hochkeil mascot Keili by Lilo Krebernik, or goodies from SP Connect and cool glasses from Out Of.

The events ended with the festive award ceremony at the Arthurhaus umbrella bar.

Many thanks to all helpers, sponsors and participants.
