TTR World Tour 07 ends this week end

The Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour 06/07 is set to close this weekend with the last event of the season TTR THREE(3)STAR first-time Slopestyle contest, Snickers Classic & Popcorn Wallride, at the glacier resort of Saas-Fee, Switzerland, 19th-22nd April, 07.

Based at 2,780m above sea level, the Spielboden area in Saas-Fee is the setting for the Snickers Classic & Popcorn Wallride Slopestyle park, designed by pro snowboarder Frederik Kalbermatten (SUI). Composed of three large kickers and a few surprise elements, the jam session format will allow riders full creative expression in the Slopestyle contest, beginning with Thursday’s open Qualifications, Friday’s 40-rider semi-finals through to Saturday’s 16-man Super-Finals.

As the final chance for riders to make a difference to their end of season status on the TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch, a mix of 15 Swiss and European invited top-name snowboarders including Frederik Kalbermatten (SUI), Marco Schwab (SUI) & Jonas Emery (SUI) will ride against local talent from the open qualifications to attempt to win TTR Ranking Points and a share of the 10,000 USD prize-purse.

Riders with possible TTR ranking improvements include Gian Simmen (SUI), current TTR World Nr 33. As Simmen’s (SUI) 6th result on the tour this season, he adds to his ranking score with a chance to leap up to the Nr 22 spot with a win. Andreas ‘Mone’ Monsberger (AUT) at Nr 144 has only competed at four TTR events this season. A podium result could land Monsberger (AUT) amongst the TTR Top 75. Both Anthony ‘Ton-Ton’ Holland (SUI), current TTR World Nr 178 & Sani Alibabic (AUT), presently World Nr 182, will add to their ranking scores and potentially finish the season within the TTR Top 100 with a good result.

Not part of the TTR ranking points, Sunday will hold Popcorn’s 3rd annual 8-metre Wallride contest with open participation spots still available.
