About Us

The WSF, founded in 2002 in Prague, is the world’s umbrella organization for snowboarding with a membership comprising 43 national snowboard associations and promoters of snowboard events across the globe. WSF Members find a strong backbone of support and sources of inspiration for their activities from the WSF. The federation creates added value for everybody involved in snowboarding on a regional and national level and offers guidance, tools and initiatives as a result of being together in one organization with the same goal: to grow the participation of snowboarding from the ground up.

The WSF is the international authority for grassroots and development snowboarding and generally promotes the sport of snowboarding in the interest of all snowboarders and especially as a healthy activity for children and youth.

The WSF gives fresh impulse to popular education and to the spread of culture in snowboarding through informational and operational programs and projects. Through exchange of information between its members and the collaboration with academic research projects the WSF maintains, increases and diffuses knowledge of Physical Education in Snowboarding.

From 2017 and the move of the WSF seat to Innsbruck, Austria, the federation adopted its new strategy focusing on grassroots, youth and Sport for All within the culture of snowboarding.
