The largest snowboard event in the world, the USASA Nationals Championship, is ready to launch 2007 edition. From 1st to 6th april, more than 1.400 riders are expected in Northstar, California, to compete in alpine, freestyle and boardercross.

Truckee, CA (March 22, 2007)On March 31st more than 1,200 snowboarders will begin to arrive to the 17th Annual United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) National Championships, the worlds largest snowboard event, at Northstar at Tahoe in California. The athletes are preparing to compete against the top amateur snowboarders in the country. Since the beginning of the 2006-2007 season, the competitors have been qualifying at their local USASA Regional Series for an invitation to the grand finale of snowboarding events. Beginning the early evening of April 1, 2007, festivities are set in motion as riders will celebrate at the USASA National Championship Opening Ceremonies at Ice Rink Plaza in the heart of Northstar at Tahoe with a competitor parade. Much like the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, all of the athletes will march representing each of the 35 regions of the United States displaying their local pride. The competitions kick-off on Monday, April 2 and continue through Friday, April 6, 2007. The athletes will compete in five snowboard and skiing events including; Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Boardercross, Giant Slalom and Slalom. Riders between the ages of 5 and 70 are set to compete in 34 divisions to win more than 840 medals.

The USASA National Championship is representative of 35 USASA Regional Series throughout the United States. This season the USASA organized more than 500 snowboard events hosted at more than 200 resorts nationwide.

USASA provides quality snowboard competitions to help recreational riders advance their competition skills and provide Olympic hopefuls the opportunity to reach their dreams. The event is expected to attract more than 8,000 people to compete and watch the week of competition and daily festivities.

USASA Trainers supports educational programs throughout the year and organizes snowboard clinics hosted at various resorts in the U.S. These clinics serve as training for instructors, coaches, judges and technical supervisors to help provide Fair, Safe, and Fun events.
