Swatch TTR Trophy Design Contest

Swatch and the TTR World Snowboard Tour launch the Swatch TTR Trophy “Art Rules” Design Contest and offer YOU a chance to make yourself a name in the design and snowboarding world around the globe. The Swatch TTR Tour is symbolised by its trophy, which is handed out at the end of the competitive season to the male and female Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champion. This trophy carries along the prestige of being the most respected snowboarding tour on the planet and is awarded to only the utter most top of athletes. For the 2010/11 season, a new trophy has been carefully crafted by the renowned German “Coarse” artist Mark Landwehr. The resin statue is 36 cm (14,4 “) high, weighs 4,5 kg (10,5 pounds) and it’s dashing looks make Oscar look downright plain.

We want to invite all of you creative minds out there to participate in the Swatch TTR Trophy 2010/2011 “Art Rules” Design Contest to create a unique design vision that represents the nature of the Swatch TTR Tour. You get the one chance of a lifetime to be part of the design outlook that fits in with the “Coarse” statue along with a new Swatch TTR watch to match, which will be produced and distributed worldwide in 2010/11. This will not only let you play an important role in the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour season but will also bring you worldwide recognition and press coverage.

You think that’s all?! By far not! Apart from the fame and glory that comes along with being the designer of this unique “Oscar of Snowboarding”, a two week creative vacation to Shanghai, including transportation and accommodation costs plus pocket money will be handed out. The designs will be judged by a critical jury of five, consisting of the Swatch President Arlette Elsa Emch, the legendary snowboarder and co-founder of the TTR Tour Terje Haakonsen, the President of the TTR Board of Directors Reto Lamm, the “Coarse” toy artist Mark Landwehr, and Pascal Johansen, the founder of “Illustrative Berlin”

The trophy winner will be announced at the “Art Rules!” event, held alongside the Swatch TTR General Assembly on the 21st of May 2010, in Barcelona, Spain. Check out the competition rules on www.artrules.swatch.com , get your colors out and start designing!

ABOUT THE ARTIST MARK LANDWEHR:
The streamlined sculptures are hand crafted and finished at the coarse workshops in Hamburg and Hong Kong. The artist focuses on statues that range from small to life size, made from resin or fiberglass. The work also includes photography, prints and objects, combining all aspects to create holistic pieces of art. Pieces that convey an alternate reality. A fiction brand.
As a result of having lived in two separate cultures, Mark Landwehr blends eastern and western aesthetics. A possible explanation for the brand’s popularity worldwide. coarse figures are currently available in art toy stores and galleries across 18 countries worldwide. In 2010, coarse will showcase their latest works in Tokyo, Paris and Chicago.
