Chloe Kim (USA) youngest World Snowboard Tour Overall Champion ever

Chloe Kim is the youngest World Snowboard Tour Overall Champion. Kelly Clark and Taku Hiraoka are the 2014 World Snowboard Tour Halfpipe Champions.
Stale Sandbech takes World Snowboard Tour Overall and Slopestyle trophies home.
Maxence Parrot is the 2014 Big Air Champion.
Jamie Anderson takes 3rd World Snowboard Tour Trophy home.

Under perfect conditions in Vail, Colorado today, last year’s Champion Kelly Clark (USA) and Taku Hiraoka (JAP) won the World Snowboard Tour Halfpipe Championship titles. Kelly and Taku have been the most consistent Halfpipe riders of the 2013-2014 season.

Kelly dominated today’s contest right from the start, grabbing the win with her second run; Frontside 1080 Indy – Cab 720 Mute Grab – Indy to Mute Grab – Backside 540 Tail Grab – Frontside 900 Indy – Backside Air. It is her 4th World Snowboard Tour title, and her second consecutive in the Halfpipe category. ‘’It is always a great feeling to be awarded but I still don’t ride to win any titles; it’s much more about progressing the sport for me and having fun with that for as long as I can.”

Taku went big in the finals and became second behind Taylor Gold (USA) in the finals. He secured his halfpipe title with a 86.88 score ahead of rivals Louie Vito and Christian Haller. His run consisted of a Frontside 540 Indy – Backside 900 Mute Grab – Frontside Double Cork 1080 Stalefish Melon Grab – Cab Double Cork 1080 Indy – Frontside 1260 Tail Grab.
‘”I wanted to really get the first place here, but the pipe was so good I really enjoyed it anyway… Being the World Snowboard Tour Champion was such great news, and it makes this day for the highlight of my season!”

Chloe was the biggest surprise on Tour this season, in both Halfpipe and Slopestyle contests she entered, taking silver at the X Games Halfpipe contest in Aspen and 3rd place here athe the Burton US Open in Vail. Though not many female riders compete in both Slopestyle and Halfpipe regularly, Chloe beat competitors like last year’s Champion Sarka Pancochova (CZE) and Enni Rukajärvi (FIN).

‘’This feels great, it is a big surprise, I never really pay attention to my results, I just care about having fun when I ride, both in the Halfpipe and the Slopestyle I will definitely try to do more Slope contests next year. ’’

Champions Jamie Anderson and Stale Sandbech both dominated the Slopestyle courses this season, on Tour and at the Olympics in Sochi. In addition to his First Slopestyle Title, Stale reclaimed his Overall Trophy. Stale was close to take the Big Air Title as well, but it was Maxence Parrot that snatched this one from Stale with his X Games Gold medal in the Big Air competition.

Jamie and Stale World Snowboard Slopestyle Champions 2014

Jamie Anderson wins US Open and claims her third World Snowboard Tour title. Stale Sandbech places second and takes his first World Snowboard Tour Slopestyle title

With a snowy and windy start at the US Open today, the women did not have an easy ride in the finals it seemed, except for Jamie, who dominated from her first run on. She was showing her smooth signature style on her winning run Gap to boardslide – 50:50 to Frontside Boarslide -50-50 to backside 180 Tailtap out – Cab 720 Nose Grab – Switch backside Indy – Frontside 720 Mute Grab; that has already turned a classic.
Jamie shared the podium with Spencer O’Brien (CAN) in second place and Burton European Open winner Isabel Derungs (SUI) in third. Isabel Derungs showed some progression in her trick choice, by going with a Backside Rodeo.

Jamie Anderson (USA) takes her 3rd World Snowboard Tour title, after winning here at the US Open, just beating Silje Norendal who had been leading most of the season with her 2 X Games gold medals. With Silje missing finals here in Vail, Jamie had yet another chance to reclaim her Tour title and with her smooth runs she showed that she still is the best Slopestyle rider overall.

The Men’s final was an absolute thriller despite the snowfall, with Slopestyle Champion Stale Sandbech, former Champ Sebastien Toutant and X Games winner Maxence Parrot kept battling Mark McMorris till their last run. Mark’s winning run was his second, consisted of a Switch Boardslide to frontside boardslide – 50-50 to backflip out – Frontside Boardslide 450 out – Cab 1260 Mute – FS Double Cork 1080 Mute – BS Triple 1440 Mute.

With his 2nd place here today Stale Sandbech claimed his first World Snowboard Tour Slopestyle title, plus his second World Tour trophy after his 2012 Overall Championship.

Billabong Flaunt It Hits Lake Louise

Billabong Flaunt It graced the mountains of Lake Louise, Alberta this past weekend for its 8th annual all girls slopestyle and rail jam. Competitors gathered from all over Canada and the US for the most anticipated all girls’ competition in the country. The competitors braved temperatures of -36°c; the mountain waited a few hours before it was safe to open lifts to the pubic. In the meantime the girls filled their Dakine heli bags with goodies from Nixon, Billabong, VonZipper, Dakine and SBC Women’s Annual.

The day stared off with the rail jam as the girls hiked a set up consisting of a flat-down box and an urban down-flat-down and down rail to keep toasty. Whistler’s Breanna Stangeland locked down first place with a switch front blunt sameway on the down bar.

The slopestyle contest was held in the afternoon once it warmed up a few degrees. Ontario’s Samm Denena took home the
