The British Snowboard and Freeski Championships AKA “The BRITS” are pleased to announce that leading industry brand Trespass are first out of the start gates to take the title of the Trespass British Snowboard and Skiercross Championship events at the forthcoming BRITS 2007 (10th – 17th March, Laax, Switzerland).

Trespass Stakes it’s Claim to the British Snowboard / Skiercross Championships
*******BRITS 2007 News Update*******

Spencer Claridge, Director of Soul Sports quoted: – “Following five years of support to the British Championship Series, there is no more fitting brand than Trespass to be the first to stake its claim to ownership of a Championships title. We are delighted that Trespass has increased its involvement with the BRITS and very much look forward to promoting the brand as a true supporter of UK freestyle snowsports development”.

Michael MacDonald, of Trespass quoted: – “Along with the British Championship Series we aim to lift the profile of our snow-sports and its participants. Trespass is all about access, whether it’s supporting the BRITS or designing technical outerwear that won’t break the bank. We support the British Snowboard and Skiercross Championship events as these disciplines are accepting of all comers, beginners, pros, freestylers, freeriders or alpine (remember that!?)
We can’t wait to kick things off at this year’s BRITS 2007. Now that it is ranked as a TTR event, the rest of the world will have to take notice, the BRITS are coming!”

The discipline which has been heralded as a 21st century hybrid of snowboarding and motorcross, will see competitor’s race against the clock and each other in heats of four down a challenging course that includes bumps, jumps, tight banked turns and sometimes, full body contact, until the fastest riders are left victorious. The Slopestyle, Halfpipe and Big Air disciplines and their forth-coming sponsorship announcements will be made shortly.

The BRITS, now ranked as a 3-star TTR event, offers a mixture of the best of British snowboard and freeski action, alongside cutting edge tunes in Europe’s premiere freestyle resort of Laax, Switzerland. Integration within this Tour through partnership with the WSF provides AIM Series competitors the ability to measure their performances against the World’s best, and provision of an overall World Ranking Position. Spencer Claridge, Director of Soul Sports, organisers of the AIM Series explains – “It is difficult to emphasise adequately just how pivotal this progression could prove in raising the professional attitude and ambition of British athletes”.

Each AIM Series event has been given a Star Ranking, in recognition that the events serve to develop and promote the UK’s best amateur and professional freestyle snowboarders. The organiser’s attention is now firmly focused on the Rookie to Pro stepping-stone process that this partnership encourages and pushing UK snowboarding to the next level.

King of Park in Italy Post Poned

The warm winter claims another casualty as Italian TTR THREE(3)STAR slopestyle event the O’Neill King of The Park, due to run in Sappada, Belluno, 12th-14th January 2007, is postponed until a later date.

O’NEILL KING OF THE PARK POSTPONED UNTIL COLDER TEMPERATURES RETURN8.01.2007

The decision to postpone was taken by organizers based on current warm conditions hampering the manufacture of required snow for the slopestyle park. Warm temperatures prove fatal to the production of artificial snow as high degrees halt any chance of snow cannons filling in replacement snow missing from normal precipitation.

The O’Neill King of The Park new dates will be announced as soon as the weather allows.

Autti Antti at first position in TTR Ranks

Finnish rider Autti Antti lead TTR ranks after the O’Neill Evolution in Davos.

8.01.2007 By: TTR press office

CHECK OUT THE LATEST RIDER SHOUTOUTS ON THE O’NEILL EVOLUTION TTR EVENT PROFILE

A double-dose of 1000 TTR Ranking Points at the O’Neill Evolution this weekend delivered the winning ticket to Antti Autti (FIN) as his Superpipe win and 2nd place Quarterpipe position catapulted him to TTR World Nr 1 spot at the third TTR SIX(6)STAR event of the Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour 06/07.

Tour tension tore through Friday’s Superpipe Finals as in the TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch looked all set to change. The then-current TTR World Nr 1, Scotty Lago (USA), valiantly fended off serious challenges from fellow TTR Top 10 contenders Travis Rice (USA), Danny Davis (USA) and TTR World Champion title-defender Mathieu Crepel (FRA) in halfpipe drama that continued to the contest end. It was Antti Autti (FIN) who defined the winning run, blending an inverted frontside 1080 into switch frontside 900 with well-executed straight airs and a clean-cut backside alley-oop 720, securing his first O’Neill Evolution title, 1000 TTR Ranking Points and a solid TTR World Nr 2 position separated by just 20 points from Lago (USA), still in the lead.

Saturday’s Quarterpipe Finals took on greater significance as the fight for the next round of 1000 TTR World Tour points set the riders in rampant rivalry. Local favourite Nicolas Mueller (SUI) attacked the perfect quarterpipe with inimitable style to keep the O’Neill Evolution title in Switzerland and jump into the TTR Top 5. But all eyes focused on Autti (FIN), geared up from the start to oust Lago (USA) from the Nr 1 spot with every point set to make a difference. Riding with a mission, Autti (FIN) hit an unexpected tie in the final standings with Kevin Pearce (USA) as both held the same score. With TTR Ranking List positions so sensitive, ties were cleared by the rider’s best second run. With Autti (FIN) finally claiming 2nd place, his TTR Ranking score created a near 60-point margin over Lago (USA) to knock the American off the top position after a massive 12 weeks at Nr 1.

‘I’m so happy! It’s the first time I’ve been ranked TTR World Nr 1 and want to keep my position for as long as I can. My main goal this season is to continue to ride the TTR World Snowboard Tour and be at the top’, stated Autti (FIN) triumphantly.

Current Women’s TTR tour leader, 16-year-old Jamie Anderson (USA), proved her all-round snowboard talent in both Superpipe and Quarterpipe Finals to not only maintain her TTR World Nr 1 position, but increase her ranking margin by a whopping 325 points. Victorious in the Quarterpipe, Anderson’s 13th place in the halfpipe did no damage to her standing as she now boasts six TTR format results and a hefty lead. Reigning TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion, Cheryl Maas (NED), dramatically climbs to the TTR World Nr 2 spot, definitely hot on Anderson’s heels, whilst up-coming national rider Sina Candrian (SUI) stylishly claimed the O’Neill Evolution Superpipe title to ascend to the TTR World Nr 3 position.
