Billabong Flaunt it Watervalley: Fun in the Sun

It was another beautiful weekend as Billabong Flaunt It presented by Sony Ericsson rolled into Waterville Valley, NH, with sunny skies and temperatures reaching 60 degrees. The event was sold out, with girls coming from all over the East Coast to compete for the trip to the Finals at Sierra-at-Tahoe, and to work on their goggle tans! A handful of fearless gromettes (8-12 year olds) also flaunted their skills on the rails and jumps, impressing the other competitors as well as their moms and dads cheering them on in the crowd.

Jessika Jenson from Idaho, USA took over the podium for the day, winning 1st place in the Slopestyle and a trip to the Flaunt It Finals Mar. 31st. Her smooth run consisted of a backside rodeo 5, to cab 5, followed by a cab 180 on 180 off on the flat box, and finishing with a board slide on the down bar. Completing the daily sweep, Jenson also took home 1st place in the rail jam, and the Dakine Best Trick with her stylish backside rodeo on the first Slopestyle jump. Last year’s defending champ, Billabong rider Taylor Owen came in a close second with a cab 5, to frontside 3, to 180 on 180 off the box, finishing with a front 50-50 180 out on the down bar. Mary Rand from Loon Mountain, NH rounded out the Slopestyle podium with a solid run, taking home 3rd place.

The ladies threw down their tricks on five (5) features for the Rail Jam, as the afternoon heated up to provide perfect slushy spring conditions. Jenson’s technical switch lipslide 270 off on the down bar landed her 1st place. Bekah Ashley from Killington, VT had a number of impressive tricks up her sleeve and came in 2nd place with her steezy 180 to 5-0, 180 off on the down rail. And it was Brittany Horowitz who came in 3rd place, with a perfect front board through the double kink. Jessica Gibson took home the Nixon Style award winning Nixon RPM headphones and a Nixon TPS Speaker.
