Banked Slalom report

Pouring rain all day long – but GummiLove Banked Slalom Stoos was a big success

105 registrations (80 the year before) and 70 participants, the same number as the year before, ignored the really bad weather and celebrated snowboarding at it’s best in Stoos, the heart of Switzerland.

Daniel „Gummi“ Rietmann also didn’t care about the conditions and showed his happy face: „The set-up was extraordinary. I am sorry for the bad weather but that one definitely is not on us. We’re happy we could guarantee two nice runs for everyone. My respect goes out to the crew of Shredisfaction Snowpark Stoos and all the other volunteers. Everything went very well. Great job!

Happy faces everywhere
Beni Plüss, speaker and host from Shredisfaction still can’t find any words: „This is just amazing. We expected maybe around 10 freaks at the Klingenstock today. But 70 riders came here to participate. Unbelievable! That spirit you can only find in freestyle sports like snowboarding. This is very unique and the result was definetly worth the work.

Purtschert wins again
In the mens and girls categories the same riders as the year before were on top of the podium. Nadja Purtschert won with a fast 2nd run and Kilian Wiget was again fast as hell. Till Baechler grabbed the victory in his field of younger men (18-30). The fastest rookie at the GummiLove Banked Slalom was Julian Furrer, but the bravest of all was Neo: that little 7-year-old fellow accepted the weather and the challenge like a pro.Photo Credits: Patrick Graf

Features report

GummiLove Banked Slalom Stoos 2016

On March 19, 2016 the GummiLove Banked Slalom on Mt. Stoos went back to the roots, with a competition in the original snowboard discipline. Though a friendly coming together of the snowboard scene, rather than competition, was at the forefront, the participants delivered a fantastic head to head race. 91 participants made their way to Mt. Stoos, in central Switzerland, to take part.

Though the majority of participants were locals, many others from other areas of Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Canada, and Finland were also present. The atmosphere on the Klingenstock couldn’t have been better. The boarders and spectators were greeted with perfect weather, cold drinks and good food while enjoying this unique spectacle of snowboarding. The hard work and preparation of Stoos, Shredisfaction Snowpark, We are Zrcl and the 3sixty shop Schwyz was worth it. A perfect course was made, and despite a few technical challenges, the event went off without a hitch.

Daniel „Gummi“ Rietmann from GummiLove, who brought this event to his home mountain, was very pleased with numerous positive feedbacks and commented “As the first GummiLove Banked Slalom it was a very successful event exceeding my expectations. A great team with a strong passion for snowboarding contributed significantly to the event. I look forward to next year.” After a great run and overall victory Kilian Wiget, from the Canton Schwyz, has something to celebrate. Kilian, competing in the category Men over 30 was followed by Nicholas Wolken (2nd place) and Daniel „Gummi“ Rietmann (3rd place).

In the Men’s Open category Roger Schuler, from Wädenswil, took first while Nadja Purtschert, from Ibach, triumphed in the Women’s Open category. In the Juniors Julian Furrer, from Ebertswil, can be pleased with his victory. At the after party, in Gaswerk Seewen, the celebration continued and the dance floor shook with the beats of the Goldfinger Brothers and Dj Set Hibou.

GummiLove Banked Slalom Stoos on March 19, 2016

We go back to the roots at the first GummiLove Banked Slalom on Mt. Stoos. In this vintage discipline of snowboarding it’s not about competition, above everything it’s about snowboarding and fun. The special feeling of being alive while snowboarding down the snow-covered terrain on the Klingenstock will inspire all the participants.

That winning is not the measure of all things, is celebrated in the cozy gathering at the finish area of the contest. As the sun goes down, the party will move on to another location. The winter sports area of Mount Stoos is very centrally located and easily accessible from Zurich, Lucerne, Basel and Zug. No one has to travel far to participate at the GummiLove Banked Slalom Stoos. All News and ongoing information about the contest isavailable at Daniel Rietmann, otherwise known as „Gummi“, came into this world in 1978 in Brunnen (SZ). As a very active and lively child, he received his nickname at just eight years old. At an early age, Daniel conquered the streets of central Switzerland on his skateboard.

Board sports became his great passion and he first tried his hand at snowboarding on Mt. Stoos. This was the beginning of an ambitious career as a Pro-snowboarder. In 2009 Daniel founded a company based on his nickname, “GummiLove”. Together with his wife, Corinne Rietmann, GummiLove is working to empower an attitude of sexual health with the youth. In order to spread the message, „Making safe love sexy“, GummiLove organises a variety of events in the area of freestyle sports. For Daniel it was clear that the first GummiLove Banked Slalom should take place at Mt. Stoos. Though he now lives in Urdorf, Daniel has retained a strong connection to his home mountain, Mt. Stoos, as well as central Switzerland.
